Here is a sample of some of the work I've done so far, but I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to meet new people and work with them on a new project. Have a look at my portfolio and contact me if you'd like any more information.
In 2007, I worked for Folio Weekly, an opinion and news publication based in Jacksonville, Florida. Every year, they put out a comprehensive list of all non-chain restaurants in the Northeast Florida area. I coordinated the 2007 issue, doing everything from layout and design suggestions to writing copy for the 53-page piece.
This is a review I wrote for Folio Weekly for the 2007 movie "Hot Rod" with Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg. It appeared in the August 7, 2007 issue.
This is a review I wrote for Folio Weekly for the 2007 movie "The Kingdom" with Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner. It appeared in the October 2, 2007 issue.
This is a preview I wrote for Folio Weekly for The Zydepunks on their 2007 tour. It appeared in the August 7, 2007 issue.
Since 2009, I have worked with The Baloch Society of North America, a non-profit organization that works to organize all Baloch peoples in North America. The group investigates and reports on the human rights violations against Balochistan by the Pakistani and Iranian governments. I helped with content strategy and public relations, writing and sending out press releases to relevant newsmedia sources all over the world and editing speeches that members of the group presented at United Nations meetings, Congressional hearings, and more.
In 2010, I visited Turkey for several weeks and worked alongside the Bible Correspondence College (BCC) in Turkey. I collaborated with the organization in Turkey, joining a team of copywriters for the group's website and developing a six-week internship curriculum for foreign aidworkers desiring to come to Turkey.
From 2008-2012, I worked with Close-Up Media, editing press releases and news articles for Fortune 500 companies focused on a variety of topics including quarterly earnings, stock movements, hirings and firings, research and development, product releases, and more. Articles were syndicated on Yahoo! Finance, CNN Money, and more.
In March of 2008, as a senior at Flagler College, I spent a week sleeping under a bridge and eating out of dumpsters as I investigated the social injustice that homeless men and women in St. Augustine, Florida have to face on a daily basis. This is a picture taken by photographer Peter Willott of me talking with Shamus, the man who took me into his camp and guided me around for the week. The article was nominated by Flagler College for a Society of Professional Journalists Award and published in several regional publications -- including on the cover of The St. Augustine Record.

In May of 2010, I was contacted by The Jax Observer to write their first feature article. After some consideration, I decided to write about the advent of digital prostitution via social networking websites such as Craigslist and Backpage in Northeast Florida. I conducted research, interviewed several counselors who specialize in this area, and talked with men and women who were either selling themselves on these sites, selling others, or were being sold by a third party.
NOTE: I did not take any of the pictures accompanying this article, nor did I approve of their use.
In 2010, I was hired by Wexford House Publishing out of Raleigh, North Carolina to contribute to a book on real estate in the Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. area. I also contributed to a book on real estate in the Plano, Texas area. Responsibilities included conducting extensive research on each area (such as average home prices, what major publications and news outlets are saying about the areas, the nightlife, the arts in the areas, cultural attractions and much more).
In 2010, I worked with Westmont College, a private college in Santa Barbara, California, to create a fundraising campaign targeting recent alumni. I spent a week with Westmont’s Board of Directors and Technical Services team, pitching ideas as to how to effectively reach recent alumni and writing the script for the introductory video on the campaign's website. You can view the campaign and the introductory video at WestmontImpact.org.
From 2012-2015 I worked with Love146 as their communications strategist and marketing manager. Major projects during my time there include:
